the second week's news
hi there again...here are the news....
1)Vegatable price rise 10-15% due to rainy season
Vegetable prices have risen by 10 to 15 percent on average during the past month due to the rainy season. The rainy season, which began a month earlier this year, has affected harvests in Malaysia, where half of Singapore's vegetable imports come from. The rains have also affected chilli harvests in Thailand, Vietnam and other neighbouring countries.
My opinion: Its very hard that vegatable price is higher than the usual price it is because poorer families might not have enough money just to buy vegatable for food. Even some other neighbouring countries the harvesting of the vegetable is affected so probably they also are having the same problems as us here in Singapore. This will affect us and my family because we need to buy the vegetables which is good for our health in a higher price.I hope there is a balance of weather so the vegatables and plants grow better and healthier but its impossible. And so i think we should think twice onhow to spend our money and not buy all the uneccesary things.
2) The preparations for the Youth Olympic Games on track despite the financial crisis
Singapore is all set to host the first Asian Youth Games in 2009. President of the Singapore National Olympic Council Teo Chee Hean said the financial crisis may be making it more difficult to get sponsorship, but preparations are going well.
My opinion: Its great that the preparations for the first youth olympic games is going well inspite of the financial crisis as it is a golden oppurtunity for singapore to host one of the olympic games. Even if its harder to sponsorship i know they can get some sponsorship even there is the global financial crisis. i also hope that the financial crisis would be solved and stopped, it is making the food, oil and other products to have high price. i hope that US Pres. Barack Obama would have something for this financial crisis to stop.
plz comment ty=)
